The Southwold Church Recording Group was started in 1989. This group of volunteers recorded the artefacts inside local churches in words and photographs and was part of a national network aiming to produce a database of the rich heritage our churches contain.

Over the years we recorded several churches including those at Bramfield, Reydon, Barsham, Westhall, Uggeshall and at Darsham whose record was presented to the church in November 2017. Work had just begun on recording Gisleham church when the pandemic started.

Now the Arts Society has  discontinued funding for Church Recording so this is no longer part of our activities.  The Arts Society Southwold wishes to thank Shirley Cordeaux Wilde for her most able leadership of the Church Recording Group over many years.
